Terms of Service
Last updated: October 1, 2026
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY. THEY CONTAIN IMPORTANT DISCLOSURES ABOUT MYSTERY BOX PRODUCTS, A BINDING INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION CLAUSE, AND A CLASS ACTION WAIVER. THE ESTIMATED MARKET VALUE OF THE WATCH YOU RECEIVE WILL OFTEN BE LESS THAN THE PRICE YOU PAY FOR A BOX. YOU MAY CANCEL ANY BOX FOR A FULL REFUND BEFORE ITS OUTCOME IS REVEALED (UP TO 90 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE).
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Rareo ("Rareo," "we," "us"). By creating an account, accessing the platform, or purchasing any product, you accept these Terms, our Refund Policy, Prize Disclosure Policy, Responsible Purchase Policy, and Privacy Policy, each of which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date and apply only to purchases made after the change takes effect.
2. Eligibility; Geographic Restrictions
To purchase on Rareo you must:
- be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your state, if higher);
- be a resident of, and physically located in, the United States; and
- be a resident of, located in, and seeking delivery in a state where Rareo operates. Rareo is available only in states we have affirmatively enabled, and mystery box products are not offered, sold, or shipped anywhere else. Availability is verified at sign-up, at checkout, and again when you request shipping; if your state is not supported, purchase and delivery are unavailable. The set of supported states may change at any time, and mystery box products are void wherever prohibited or restricted by law.
You may not use VPNs, proxies, false addresses, or other means to misrepresent your location or age. We may require proof of age or residency at any time and may cancel and refund any purchase we reasonably believe violates this section.
3. Nature of the Product — Important Disclosures
A Rareo mystery box is an entertainment and collectibles retail product. When you buy a box you are buying one watch, selected at random from a published pool, plus the entertainment experience of the reveal. Every box always contains a watch. You acknowledge and agree that:
- The estimated market value of the watch you receive will often be less — and may be substantially less — than the price you paid for the box. On average, across all customers, the estimated market value of watches received is less than the box price. Higher-value outcomes are uncommon.
- Selection is a two-stage random draw: first a rarity tier is selected using the tier odds published on each box page, then a specific watch is selected from within that tier using fixed selection weights. Watches within a tier are not equally likely. Each watch carries its own fixed selection weight, and the exact probability of receiving every watch is published on each box's Full Item Odds page before purchase.
- Mystery boxes are purchased for entertainment and personal enjoyment only. They are not an investment, savings, or money-making product, and no outcome should be relied on for financial gain.
- Rareo never awards cash prizes. Outcomes are physical watches (or, only if you choose, non-cash store credit).
- Displayed watches represent possible outcomes, not guaranteed inventory, and no specific watch is ever guaranteed.
4. Odds and Randomization
Tier odds for each box are published on the box detail page before purchase and are fixed at the time of purchase. Within-tier selection weights are fixed and do not change based on your identity, purchase history, or inventory levels. Outcomes are determined after payment using a verifiable method — SHA-256 of (server seed + client seed + nonce). As soon as payment completes, the server seed hash (our binding pre-commitment to your outcome), your client seed, and the nonce are recorded and visible in your account's audit history — before you open the box. The server seed itself and the outcome are disclosed after you open the box, at which point you can verify that the revealed seed matches the previously committed hash and reproduces your outcome. Keeping the seed and outcome secret until the reveal is what makes pre-reveal cancellation fair to both sides. We do not manipulate individual outcomes.
5. Payment; Order Acceptance
Prices are in US dollars. Payment is collected at checkout via supported payment methods (including Apple Pay) and applicable store credit. We may run automated fraud and velocity checks and may decline, limit, or cancel orders (with a refund of amounts paid for undelivered products) for suspected fraud, abuse, resale botting, or violations of these Terms. Nothing in these Terms limits your billing-dispute rights under applicable law. However, initiating a chargeback for an outcome that was delivered as described may result in suspension of your account, and we reserve the right to contest chargebacks we believe are unwarranted.
6. Pre-Reveal Cancellation; All Sales Final After Reveal
You may cancel any purchased box for a full refund at any time before you reveal its outcome, for up to 90 days after purchase. After 90 days, contact support and we will accommodate cancellation where our payment processor still permits the refund. Cancel from the unboxing screen: amounts paid by card or Apple Pay are refunded to the original payment method, and any store credit applied is returned as store credit. Boxes acquired by trading in a watch cannot be cancelled (the trade itself is final once completed). Once you choose to reveal the outcome, the sale is final, and we do not offer refunds based on which watch you received, except as described in our Refund Policy (duplicate charges, failure to deliver, materially misdescribed condition, substitution refusals under Section 12) or where a refund is required by applicable law.
7. Your Collection
After a reveal, the watch is reserved in your collection at no charge until you decide what to do with it. Watches are fulfilled on demand: when you request shipping, we source your watch and ship it to you (Sections 10 and 12). There is no deadline and no automatic conversion: the watch in your collection remains reserved for you until you request shipping, sell it to us, or trade it. Requesting shipping is always available for every watch in your collection (Section 10). We may contact you periodically about watches that remain unshipped. Entitlements that remain unclaimed for the period defined by applicable state unclaimed-property law will be handled as that law requires.
8. Store Credit
- Store credit is promotional in nature, has no cash value, and cannot be redeemed for cash, withdrawn, or transferred to another person or account.
- Store credit may be used only to purchase products on Rareo, alone or combined with another payment method.
- Store credit is not a deposit, bank account, or stored-value account, and is not insured.
- Where required by applicable gift-card or consumer-credit law, mandatory rights (including non-expiration rights) apply notwithstanding anything in these Terms.
9. Buyback and Trade
Buyback and trade offers are optional and subject to availability. No future buyback or trade offer is guaranteed when you purchase a box. If an offer is available for a watch in your collection, the amount and conditions are shown before you choose to accept. Buyback and trade values are based on our estimated market values (Section 11), and any credit is paid in store credit, never cash. Changes in offer availability do not remove existing credits or mandatory refund rights.
10. Shipping; Title; Risk of Loss
Physical watches ship only to valid street addresses in eligible US states after you submit a ship request and pay the displayed shipping and any insurance fees. Title and risk of loss pass to you on delivery to the carrier, except that we will replace or refund items lost or damaged in transit when shipped with our insurance. Delivery estimates are estimates, not guarantees.
11. Estimated Market Values
"Estimated market value" is our good-faith estimate based on manufacturer suggested retail prices, secondary market data, and comparable listings at the time of catalog listing. It is provided for information only. It is not an appraisal, not a promise of resale value, and not the price you would necessarily obtain selling the watch. Actual resale prices are frequently lower than estimated market values, and values change over time. Rareo has a financial interest in the products it sells and its estimates should not be treated as independent valuations.
12. Product Availability and Substitution
You are purchasing a mystery box experience and the opportunity to receive a watch selected through our randomized process. Watches shown on our website, social media, advertisements, or other marketing are examples of possible outcomes and do not guarantee that any specific watch is in stock or will be received.
We make commercially reasonable efforts to fulfill the exact watch associated with your outcome. If a watch is unavailable (supplier shortages, discontinuation, inventory changes, or similar causes), we will contact you and offer a replacement of comparable market value, quality, specifications, and desirability, selected in good faith. You may accept or decline the replacement. If you decline, or if we cannot reach you after reasonable attempts using the contact information you provided, we will refund the original box purchase price (excluding non-refundable fees unless the law requires otherwise). These remedies are your exclusive remedy for a watch we cannot source. You are never entitled to the cash value of a displayed or potential outcome merely because it was shown as a possible outcome.
13. Authenticity; Trademarks; No Affiliation
All watches sold through Rareo are authentic products lawfully acquired for resale. All watch brand names, logos, and model names (including, for example, TAG Heuer, Gucci, Longines, Tissot, Movado, Citizen, Casio, Timex, Fossil, Orient, Versace, and Apple) are trademarks of their respective owners. Rareo is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or connected to any watch manufacturer or brand. Brand names are used solely to identify genuine products. Manufacturer warranties may not extend to products purchased through resellers; where a manufacturer warranty does not apply, your remedies are against Rareo under these Terms.
14. Responsible Purchasing
Mystery boxes involve randomized outcomes and should be purchased for fun, with money you can afford to spend on entertainment. We offer voluntary spending limits, cool-down periods, and self-exclusion on request — contact support. If purchasing stops being fun, help is available: call or text 1-800-GAMBLER, or visit ncpgambling.org.
15. Prohibited Conduct
- Misrepresenting your age, identity, or location, or circumventing geographic restrictions;
- Using bots, scripts, or automation to purchase or interact with the platform;
- Exploiting bugs, manipulating the randomization process, or interfering with other users;
- Using the platform for money laundering, resale fraud, or any unlawful purpose;
- Creating multiple accounts to evade limits, blocks, or restrictions.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section. On termination we will, at your direction and subject to these Terms, ship eligible watches remaining in your collection (at your expense) or complete a buyback for store credit balances as required by law.
16. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," AND WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES NOT EXPRESSLY STATED IN THESE TERMS, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS NON-WAIVABLE RIGHTS UNDER APPLICABLE CONSUMER PROTECTION LAW.
17. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (A) NEITHER PARTY IS LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOST PROFITS; AND (B) RAREO'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE PLATFORM OR ANY PURCHASE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO RAREO IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. THESE LIMITS DO NOT APPLY TO LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW, INCLUDING LIABILITY FOR FRAUD, GROSS NEGLIGENCE, OR WILLFUL MISCONDUCT.
18. Indemnification
You will indemnify Rareo against third-party claims arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the platform, except to the extent caused by our own breach or misconduct.
19. Dispute Resolution — Arbitration and Class Action Waiver
Please read this section carefully. It requires individual arbitration of most disputes and waives class actions and jury trials. You can opt out within 30 days.
- Informal resolution first. Before filing any claim, you and Rareo agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by written notice to the other party and 60 days of good-faith discussion.
- Binding arbitration. Any dispute not resolved informally will be resolved by binding individual arbitration before a single arbitrator. The parties will agree on an established arbitration provider whose consumer rules and fee schedules are consistent with this section (for example, the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, if available and willing to administer). If the parties cannot agree on a provider, or the selected provider is unavailable or declines to administer, either party may ask a court of competent jurisdiction to appoint an arbitrator under 9 U.S.C. § 5, and the arbitration will proceed before that arbitrator under consumer-protective procedures substantially similar to the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. The arbitrator decides all issues except that a court decides arbitrability of the class action waiver.
- Class action and jury waiver. Disputes will be arbitrated only on an individual basis. Neither party may participate in a class, consolidated, or representative action, and both parties waive the right to a jury trial.
- Small claims carve-out. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead of arbitrating.
- Costs. For claims under $10,000, Rareo will pay arbitration filing and arbitrator fees in excess of the amount you would pay to file in small claims court, unless the arbitrator finds the claim frivolous.
- Coordinated filings. If 25 or more arbitration demands raising similar claims are filed against Rareo by the same counsel or coordinated counsel, the demands will be resolved in stages: 10 demands selected by each side (up to 20 total) proceed to arbitration first as bellwethers, and all other demands are held in abeyance. After the bellwethers conclude, the parties will mediate the remaining claims in good faith based on those results before any further arbitrations proceed. Statutes of limitation are tolled for demands held in abeyance, and a court may enforce this paragraph.
- 30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing rareo.support@gmail.com with the subject "Arbitration Opt-Out" within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.
20. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs Section 19, and except that consumers retain the protection of mandatory consumer protection laws of their state of residence. Any claims not subject to arbitration must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas.
21. Taxes
Box prices exclude sales tax. Sales tax is calculated and collected when you purchase a box, based on the billing or delivery state provided at checkout, and applies to the full box price whether you pay by card, store credit, or both. When you request shipment of a watch, tax is also collected on the shipping and insurance charge in states that tax delivery charges, and — for purchases made before tax collection began — on the original box price as a use-tax backstop. Buyback and trade credits are not reduced by sales tax, but a trade is treated as a new box purchase and taxed accordingly. If a purchase is cancelled before the reveal, all tax collected on it is refunded with the purchase price. You remain responsible for any income or use taxes that may arise from the value of items you receive.
22. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect, except that if the class action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim must proceed in court, not arbitration. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Rareo regarding the platform. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. We are not liable for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
23. Contact
Questions about these Terms: rareo.support@gmail.com. Notices under Section 19 must be sent to the same address and include your name, account email, and a description of the dispute.
