RAREO

Prize Disclosure Policy

Overview

Rareo mystery boxes contain watches assigned by a two-stage randomized process. This policy discloses how outcomes are selected, how values are estimated, and how fulfillment works. Every box always contains a watch — there are no empty boxes — but the estimated market value of the watch you receive will often be less than the price of the box.

How Outcomes Are Selected

Selection happens in two random stages. The tier probabilities and watch selection weights are fixed when you purchase; the outcome is selected after payment is verified:

  • Stage 1 — Tier. A rarity tier is selected using the tier probabilities displayed on the box detail page. These are the percentages you see before you buy.
  • Stage 2 — Watch. A specific watch is then selected from within that tier using fixed selection weights. Watches within a tier are not equally likely. Each watch carries its own selection weight, and the exact within-tier and overall probability of every watch is published on the box's Full Item Odds page before you buy.

Tier probabilities and within-tier weights are fixed at the time of purchase and do not change based on inventory levels, your purchase history, or how much you have spent.

Expected Value

Because tier probabilities and selection weights are set so that a box's randomized payout averages below its price, the average (expected) estimated market value of watches received from a box is less than that box's purchase price. Mystery boxes are an entertainment product, not a way to acquire watches below market price, and should never be treated as an investment.

Randomization Method

Outcomes are determined after payment using an independently verifiable system: SHA-256 hash of (server seed + client seed + nonce). As soon as payment completes — before you open the box — the server seed hash, your client seed, and the nonce are committed to your personal audit history. The server seed itself is revealed after you open the box, so you can confirm it matches the previously committed hash and reproduces your recorded outcome.

Market Value Estimates

Estimated market values are Rareo's good-faith estimates based on market data and comparable listings at the time of catalog listing. They are informational only, are not appraisals, and are not the price you would necessarily obtain reselling a watch — actual resale prices may vary. Rareo has a financial interest in the products it sells; its estimates are not independent valuations, and Rareo does not guarantee any resale value.

Store Credit & Buyback

Your watch can remain in your collection until you request delivery. Buyback and trade offers are optional and subject to availability; do not purchase a box expecting to receive a buyback offer. If an offer is available, its amount and conditions are shown before you accept. Any buyback is paid in store credit, not cash. Store credit has no cash value, and an amount in store credit is not an equivalent cash or resale value. Existing credits and mandatory refund rights are unaffected.
